  3. Because of the relatively light armament 
  4. which the He 162 usually carried, two 
  5. 20mm MG 151 cannons, it was not really 
  6. the best aircraft with which to take on the 
  7. twelve .50 caliber machine guns of a B-17 
  8. Flying Fortress.  Even in large numbers, 
  9. the Volksjager probably would not have 
  10. posed as great a threat to bomber crews as 
  11. did the four 30mm cannons of the Me 262.

  13. One factor in favor of the He 162 was that 
  14. it was constructed largely of wood, an 
  15. airframe material known for its ability to 
  16. sustain heavy damage from machine gun 
  17. fire and still hang together.

  21. Follow your flight leader to intercept a 
  22. formation of B-17s heading for the aircraft 
  23. engine factory in Kiel.  A pair of Bf 109s 
  24. has taken the lead to sweep the enemy 
  25. escort fighters, allowing your flight of He 
  26. 162s to make a clean attack on the 
  27. bombers.
